What to Know

  • Mega Movie Summer
  • Universal Studios Hollywood
  • June 13 through Aug. 9, 2026 (daily)
  • Theme park admission is required
  • The “Buy A Day, Get a 2nd Day Free” offer gives guests the opportunity to “two of the best days in L.A.”
  • Merchandise inspired by Illumination’s “Minions & Monsters,” spying a ship from “The Odyssey,” and meeting Elphaba and Glinda characters from “Wicked” are part of the summer offerings

So you’ve fully signed on for a super-sensational cinematic summer, the sort of June-July-August-stravaganza that is all about you committing to enjoying a film in a theater each week and maybe another movie or two at home.

Talk about a life-enhancing, mind-growing, spirit-bolstering goal: Movies connect us to one another and help us live lives that we’d never experience otherwise.

Oh yeah, and laugh a whole lot, too, which feels good.

Universal Studios Hollywood is what happens when moviedom takes robust root and flowers into a full-on theme park, and finding references to the films we love, from “The Mummy” to “Jurassic World,” is as simply as strolling through the attraction-packed property.

And starting June 13? Universal is celebrating the return of its Mega Movie Summer, a two-month offering which will include Minions merch, a peek at a ship from “The Odyssey,” and Elphaba and Glinda characters bringing “Wicked” whimsy.

Admission to the theme park is required. If you’d like to do a couple of days, consider going with the “Buy A Day, Get a 2nd Day Free” offer.

The celluloid splendor will pop up in all corners of the park: Look for merchandise and treats inspired by Illumination’s “Minions & Monsters,” and a Minion Dance Party, too.

One of the items for sale will be a debuting monster seen in the film, which is opening July 1.

Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” is on the splashiest movies on the 2026 summer calendar, a movie sailing into our worlds July 17. Guests on the world-famous Studio Tour will have the opportunity to view an original ship used in the epic, as well as see interviews with filmmakers.

And over at Hollywood & Dine, which is rocking the name Drift & Dine over the course of the Mega Movie Summer? Peel out for “Fast & Furious”-themed foods, with the L.A. Drift Dog and other palate-pleasers parked on the menu.

Other ethereal, uplifting, and effervescent happenings are part of the two-month extravaganza, with Elphaba and Glinda characters from “Wicked” and “Wicked for Good” appearing at the park, “Fast & Furious” menu items popping up at the NBC Sports Grill & Brew, and a Beachside Melt, inspired by “Jaws,” at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville.

There’s more shimmering is spectacular celluloid-style fashion at Universal Studios Hollywood starting June 13; grab a popcorn and check out the full line-up.

Universal Studios and NBC-owned TV stations operate under the same parent company NBCUniversal.
