Leading into the Tony Awards, a number of nominees saw big box office bumps, with Cats: The Jellicle Ball jumping up $120,000 to reach just over $1 million and new musicals The Lost Boys rising by $100,000 to reach close to $1.4 million and Schmigadoon! jumping close to $100,000 to reach just over $950,000.

But the biggest jump belonged to an older play, as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child skyrocketed $530,000 with the return of Tom Felton, who played Draco in the films, to the cast after a planned break. The play brought in $1.6 million and played to 94 percent capacity.

More from The Hollywood Reporter

Hamilton jumped up $230,000 to reach $2.1 million as the top earner of the week, as the average ticket price increased to $197 from $175, followed by The Lion King with $1.95 million.

Death of a Salesman bested its own record from last week to reach $1.83 million in the week ahead of the Tony Awards. MJ was the fifth highest grossing in the industry last week with $1.5 million, coming in just behind Harry Potter.

While the grosses reflect last week’s numbers, and don’t yet account for the Tony wins Sunday, there have already been reports of awards bumps.

Cats: The Jellicle Ball said Monday that ticket sales were skyrocketing after their show’s performance on the telecast, with the musical on track to wrap about 500 percent higher than in a typical 24-hour period. The musical took home for four Tony Awards, including best direction and choreography.

And Ragtime, which took home four Tony Awards, including best revival of a musical, announced another two-week extension of the show, with the musical now set to play its final performance Aug. 16.
