Quentin Tarantino is returning to acting for a new movie, and this time he will share the screen with pop icon Kylie Minogue. The project is currently being kept secret, but the unexpected pairing has already caught the attention of fans.

According to Variety, the film reunites Tarantino with Welsh director Jamie Adams, who is known for his unique style of making improvised films inspired by the French New Wave movement. The new movie is backed by New York-based producers Visor Entertainment, who became involved with the project after meeting Adams during the Tribeca Film Festival.

Details about the title and story are still unknown, but Variety has confirmed that Tarantino will appear as an actor rather than sitting behind the camera. He will star alongside Minogue, with several Welsh actors also joining the cast.

The film was recently shot in the Welsh town of Porthcawl. Local reports revealed that Tarantino and Minogue filmed scenes involving a funeral at Newton Church and a wake at the Saltwater Inn. While the story details remain hidden, the locations suggest the movie could explore darker and more emotional themes.

The cast includes Welsh performers Karen Paullada, Julian Lewis Jones, Craig Russell, and Siwan Morris. Paullada shared her excitement on Instagram, saying she enjoyed working with the cast and describing the film as a project “steered and put together by the one and only” Jamie Adams.

This is not the first time Adams and Tarantino have worked together. Their previous film, Only What We Carry, premiered at Tribeca and featured actors Simon Pegg and Charlotte Gainsbourg. The movie was created in Adams’ trademark style, using improvisation and a fast production schedule. It was filmed in just six days in Deauville, France.

Adams previously explained to Variety how he managed to bring Tarantino into that project. Instead of going through traditional casting methods, the director personally contacted Tarantino and offered him a role.

“I sent him the story outline and a letter,” Adams told Variety. “I was just very honest about believing in him as an actor. Improvisation, the way I use it, is about being present and reacting organically. He’s one of the greatest conversational storytellers. I thought that would be incredible in character.”

Adams admitted he did not expect a response, but Tarantino’s team eventually reached out and arranged a video meeting between the two filmmakers. The conversation quickly became much bigger than just discussing the movie.

“Once you hear his voice, you’re transported. It’s like Disneyland for filmmakers,” Adams said, explaining that they talked about movies, their lives, and even the Welsh sitcom Gavin & Stacey.

During their first conversation, Adams said Tarantino attempted to discuss the character, but the director wanted to focus on building a connection first.

“At one point he tried to talk about the character, and said ‘I’ve written quite a few questions here about the character,’ and I said, ‘No, this isn’t the moment for that. That’s the next conversation,’” Adams recalled.

The filmmaker said he later worried about stopping Tarantino, but the director actually appreciated the moment because it showed him that Adams was confident as a filmmaker.

While fans will have to wait for more information about the new movie, the combination of Tarantino, Minogue, and Adams already makes the project one of the most unusual upcoming films. With its secretive story and unique creative team, the movie could become another memorable entry in Tarantino’s long acting career.
