Carson Rowland is signing his NDA. The actor has joined the indie film in a lead role, opposite Rachel Zegler, Penn Badgley and Amy Ryan. The Bleecker Street-backed film is currently shooting in New York.
NDA centers on Dana (Zegler), who faces a wild day of mediation after filing an office harassment claim. As the deadline approaches, she navigates questions about silence and the truth. Audrey Ellis Fox makes her directorial debut from her own script, which landed on the 2024 Black List.
Rowland is coming off of four seasons on the Netflix romantic drama series Sweet Magnolias, where he played the fan favorite character Ty Townsend, the oldest son of Maddie Townsend (JoAnna Garcia Swisher). The actor opted to leave the show to pursue other projects ahead of season five, which bowed in June, though it’s possible he could return for a sixth season.
He recently shot what is intended to be a major recurring role in the pilot to NBC’s The Rockford Files, which stars David Boreanaz and has been ordered to series, while previously he worked on Ryan Murphy’s The Beauty and played Chip on HBO Max’s Pretty Little Liars reboot.
On the feature film front, he stepped behind the scenes to co-executive produce The Testaments of Ann Lee, the Amanda Seyfred-led historical drama made by The Brutalist duo Mona Fastvold and Brady Corbet. He also led the action adventure movie The Queen’s Jewels, opposite Katherine McNamara and Mike Vogel.
As for NDA, is produced by Jared Ian Goldman and Zola Elgart Glassman for Mighty Engine, Keith Calder and Jess Wu Calder for SNOOT, Caitlin Gold for Tanbark Pictures, and Daniel Ginsberg for In The Cut Productions. Ellis Fox executive produces, along with Bleecker Street’s Kent Sanderson, Tyler DiNapoli, and Miranda King. Christian Hall also EPs.
