Taylor, TX (The Hollywood Times) 8/9/26 – There is always something exciting about discovering a new film festival, especially one created with a real purpose behind it.The inaugural She Speaks Film Festival, taking place September 18–19, 2026 in Taylor, Texas, is dedicated to giving women filmmakers a place to be seen, heard and celebrated. The festival was created to spotlight bold and inspiring stories while bringing together filmmakers, artists and audiences who care about independent cinema and women-led storytelling.

What I particularly like about She Speaks is that it isn’t limited to one kind of story. The festival welcomes shorts, features and documentaries across genres, with films representing different experiences and points of view. It is about giving women both behind and in front of the camera more opportunities to take center stage.
The weekend begins September 18 with a filmmaker and creative mixer at Judy Blundell’s gallery. Screenings take place September 19 at the historic Howard Theatre in Taylor, followed by an awards ceremony at The Black Sparrow. Festival Director Jessica Drake is leading the festival’s first year.
Awards will recognize everything from international, U.S. and Texas films to directing, acting, cinematography, emerging filmmakers and an Audience Choice Award.
The Hollywood Times looks forward to covering She Speaks Film Festival and introducing our readers to some of the women and stories making their voices heard.
