DALLAS — For Hollywood Smooth and Honcho Noriaga, independence is about more than releasing music without a major label. It is about ownership, opportunity and building something designed to last.

The Dallas recording artists are bringing that philosophy to the forefront with their new single, “Boujee,” a collaboration that pairs Hollywood Smooth’s experience as an artist, entrepreneur and CEO of FAM Records with the energy of emerging artist Honcho Noriaga.

Operating under FAM, short for Forever About Money Records, the two artists are working to expand an independent brand rooted in authenticity, entrepreneurship and a belief that artists can build significant careers without abandoning control of their work.

Hollywood Smooth has spent years developing his career from the ground up, using personal experiences and setbacks as motivation while building FAM into a platform for his own music and the development of other artists.

Rather than relying on trends, he says the focus has remained on creating records capable of connecting with listeners beyond a single moment.

That long-term approach is now being paired with Honcho Noriaga, who represents a younger generation of artists entering the industry with a similar emphasis on originality and self-determination. His style brings a different energy to FAM while complementing the foundation Hollywood Smooth has already established.

Together, the artists see their partnership as a bridge between different generations of hip-hop.

Their latest release, “Boujee,” is intended to introduce a wider audience to that chemistry while setting the stage for a larger run of music planned through FAM Records.

The release follows years of independent development that have included distributing music across major streaming platforms, building an audience through organic promotion and collaborating with emerging talent. FAM has also increasingly focused on the business side of music, emphasizing artist ownership and the importance of treating a career as both a creative pursuit and an enterprise.

That path has not come without challenges.

Without the resources of a major-label system, Hollywood Smooth and his team have had to navigate financial limitations, industry politics and the constant demands that come with funding and promoting music independently.

Instead of waiting for outside support, they continued investing in their own releases and developing their sound and brand.

For Hollywood Smooth, those obstacles became part of the larger mission behind FAM.

The label’s identity is built around the idea that consistency, loyalty and ownership can create opportunities even when traditional industry doors remain closed. Each setback, the artists say, has reinforced the importance of staying committed to the larger vision.

“Boujee” represents another step in that progression.

While the single is a central focus of the current campaign, Hollywood Smooth and Honcho Noriaga view it as the beginning of a larger period of expansion. Additional releases, collaborations and music videos are already being developed as the label works to reach listeners outside its home market.

The long-term ambitions are significant.

Hollywood Smooth plans to continue expanding his profile as both a recording artist and entrepreneur while developing FAM into a recognized independent label capable of launching other artists. The team is also pursuing international touring opportunities, major business partnerships, commercially successful records and recognition at the highest levels of the music industry.

Developing new talent remains another major part of that vision.

Rather than building a brand centered entirely around one artist, FAM aims to create an infrastructure that can help emerging performers establish careers of their own while maintaining a stronger degree of ownership and independence.

For Honcho Noriaga, that philosophy provides an opportunity to establish his own identity while contributing to something larger.

As the music industry continues to give independent artists more avenues to distribute, market and monetize their work directly, Hollywood Smooth believes artists who understand both creativity and business are increasingly positioned to compete.

That is the message FAM hopes audiences hear beyond the music itself.

The goal is not simply to generate attention around one single. Hollywood Smooth and Honcho Noriaga are attempting to build a lasting presence around a catalog, a company and a philosophy centered on turning ambition into ownership.

With “Boujee,” the two Dallas artists are introducing the next phase of that effort — combining Hollywood Smooth’s experience with Honcho Noriaga’s emerging voice as FAM Records looks beyond its hometown and toward a global audience.

For Hollywood Smooth, Honcho Noriaga and the team behind Forever About Money Records, the release is less about arriving than establishing what comes next.
