Though it’s been one of the most streamed shows in the United States for the past three-plus years, The Big Bang Theory had never reached the top of the Nielsen charts.

Emphasis on had: The comedy took over the No. 1 overall spot in the streaming ratings for the week of July 27-Aug. 2 with 1.14 billion minutes of viewing time. The Big Bang Theory grew a little bit week to week and was the only series or movie to record more than a billion viewing minutes — which it did for the third straight week.

It was a rather quiet week for original series, led by Netflix’s true crime show The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare with 864 million minutes of watch time. That’s the lowest weekly total for the No. 1 show on the originals list in nearly two years. On the plus side for originals, Netflix’s Ransom Canyon (816 million minutes) grew by about 9 percent the week after its season two premiere, and Prime Video’s Ride or Die (786 million) fell off by only 15 percent in its third week — fairly strong retention for a binge-release show.

Ted Lasso (446 milion minutes for Apple TV) returned to the top 10 a week before its fourth season premiered, and Hulu’s Furious (372 million) — which was just renewed for a second season — debuted in 10th place with its first four episodes. Will Ferrell’s The Hawk plummeted in its third week, falling 59 percent to 383 million minutes.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 led the movies chart and finished second overall with 911 million viewing minutes for the week of its streaming premiere on Disney+ and Hulu. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie also had a solid start with 777 million minutes on Peacock. The previous week’s overall No. 1, Masters of the Universe, fell to fourth among movies with 588 million viewing minutes.

Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences. The top streaming titles for July 27-Aug. 2, 2026, are below.
