Spider-Man: Brand New Day is continuing its charge towards the all-time domestic box office record with $39 million in its fourth weekend in cinemas, remaining No. 1 on the charts, and surging past a whopping $2.2 billion at the global box office.

Within nearly a month of its release, the fourth Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland now stands at $855 million domestic (in the US) and $2.22 billion worldwide, putting it on the verge of passing the total of last year’s smash hit Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2.

Brand New Day remains on course to pass Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the highest-grossing domestic film of all time before inflation adjustment and become the third movie to cross $2.5 billion worldwide.

Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continues its excellent hold with $19.5 million in its sixth weekend to reach $539 million domestic, edging past The Dark Knight as Nolan’s highest-grossing domestic release before inflation adjustment. With $1.44 billion worldwide, the film is now roughly $230 million away from racing past Jurassic World to become Universal’s unadjusted highest-grossing film of all time.

The Odyssey also continues to climb higher on IMAX’s all-time charts, becoming the first film in the premium format company’s history to gross $400 million worldwide. A sizable $56 million of that has come from the film’s 41 IMAX 70mm locations, which are set to continue screening the film for weeks and could keep The Odyssey earning $1 million-plus weekend totals well into autumn.
