Top Imax execs on Wednesday talked about The Odyssey halo effect on the film tech company as Christopher Nolan’s epic adventure movie extends its run on its premium format screens.

“I’m sure they’ve taken note of how The Odyssey was released, and how Nolan graciously leaned into Imax,”  Imax CFO Natasha Fernandes told the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference. The finance chief added The Odyssey has been a box office winner for her company, but also a “proof point about our business and about the future of our business.”

That’s allowed Imax execs to drive more conversations with international exhibitors about additional Imax theater and technology purchases. “There’s many deals coming into play right now, like opportunities for second screens or higher capacity,” Fernandes told investors.

Nolan’s blockbuster, which has grossed $1.6 billion in theaters, is also expected to help the giant screen pioneer expand into new markets internationally and deepen movie partnerships with Hollywood studios and streamers.

The Odyssey, a theatrical release shot entirely with Imax cameras, became the highest-grossing Imax release of all time, having made $457 million across Imax screens globally to date. Imax 70mm screenings for The Odyssey have earned a cumulative $66 million worldwide and the company has added dates in Nolan’s preferred format.

Imax also played Marvel-Sony’s blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has made $1.55 billion to date and counting. Anne Globe, chief marketing officer at Imax, added that Dune: Part Three also heading to Imax 70mm theaters has allowed early ticket sales four months in advance of the wider theatrical rollout, as happened for The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

“We’re seeing that brand growth and we’re seeing our fan base expand and continue to be excited about what’s being offered in Imax,” Globe argued during the investors conference appearance.

After Imax in May 2026 saw its share price rise amid Wall Street chatter about being up for sale and in early-stage talks with possible suitors, Fernandes on Wednesday said “we occupy a unique position in the entertainment industry. We’re connected with filmmakers and studios, and we have a global reach. So I think we’re definitely a a highly valued asset.”
