What have we learned about the Minions since they first appeared in Despicable Me in 2010? The Minions are unstoppable and apparently are way more responsible for the curation of supervillains and Hollywood’s success than we ever knew!

In today’s final trailer for Minions & Monsters — the third prequel Minion feature film adventure in theaters July 1, 2026 — we meet a whole new gaggle of the yellow creatures influencing the Golden Age of Hollywood. Per the official film description, “This is the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.”

The film is written by Brian Lynch (Minions, The Secret Life of Pets films) and director Pierre Coffin, and produced by Illumination’s Academy Award® nominated founder/CEO Chris Meledandri, and by Bill Ryan (executive producer, The Super Mario Bros. Movie).

In this final trailer for Minions & Monsters, we go back in time to 1920’s Los Angeles, when Hollywood was new and looking for fresh talent. Enter those weird yellow guys who get featured in their own classic black and white cartoon. Yes, they become instant Hollywood sensations and paint the town yellow with their chaos. Led by the genuine talents of James the Minion, he comes up with an epic monster movie idea as their cinematic masterpiece.

Of course, hiring extras isn’t good enough so they literally conjure a monster — Gary Orkam Oliver Magma Ichabod the Deceiver, aka Goomi — to help them find the most authentic monster to star in their big picture. The cute little Cthulhu leads them to a mysterious island for the ultimate monster lead named Irene. Only problem: Once she’s in Hollywood, she is “going to destroy everything on the planet!” Oops!

Who’s in the cast of Minions & Monsters?

Joining the cast along with director Pierre Coffin who has voiced all the Minions going back to Despicable Me, are Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan, Phil LaMarr and the returning talents of Trey Parker(who voiced Balthazar Bratt in Despicable Me 3) and Allison Janney (who voiced Madge Nelson in 2105’s Minions, now streaming on Peacock).

When does Minions & Monsters open in theaters?

Minions & Monsters opens exclusively in theaters on July 1. Check out the official website here.

While you wait patiently for July 1, be sure to catch up on previous Minion misadventures with Despicable Me 2, Despicable Me 4 and Minions streaming now on Peacock.
