Sydney’s Hollywood Quarter will host a late-night entertainment program during this year’s Vivid Sydney festival, with bars, cinemas, live music venues and restaurants across Surry Hills and Darlinghurst extending their trading hours and hosting special events.

The “Hollywood Quarter After Hours” program will run from 22 May to 13 June as part of the wider Vivid Sydney festival. The initiative spans venues surrounding the historic Hollywood Quarter precinct, including sites along Foster Street, Campbell Street and nearby laneways.

According to the event listing, participating venues will present a mix of live music, DJs, film screenings, food events and performances aimed at encouraging festival-goers to continue their evening after visiting Vivid Sydney installations and attractions. The program includes both free and ticketed events.

Venues involved in the program include the historic Golden Age Cinema and Bar, the independently operated Hollywood Hotel, and live music spaces throughout the precinct. Organisers say the initiative is designed to showcase the area’s nightlife and cultural identity during one of Sydney’s largest annual festivals.

The program announcement states: “From hidden bars and live music to immersive cinema and late-night dining, Hollywood Quarter After Hours invites festivalgoers to experience Sydney after dark.”

A number of hospitality venues will also offer limited-edition menus, cocktails and extended kitchen hours across the festival period. Organisers said visitors would be able to “explore a curated mix of venues and experiences” throughout the precinct.

Hollywood Quarter, located on the edge of the Sydney CBD, has increasingly positioned itself as a nightlife and entertainment destination, with the precinct containing cinemas, small bars, theatres, restaurants and live performance venues.

The Hollywood Quarter is an entertainment and hospitality precinct on the southern edge of the Sydney CBD, centred around Surry Hills and Darlinghurst near Central Station. Named after the heritage-listed Hollywood Hotel and the historic former Hollywood Studio complex, the area is known for its concentration of independent cinemas, live music venues, small bars, restaurants and late-night cultural spaces.

Vivid Sydney will run from 22 May to 13 June, with this year’s festival featuring light installations, live music, talks and food events across multiple Sydney precincts. Destination NSW says the festival is expected to attract millions of visitors over the three-week program.
