Despite critical acclaim and early awards accolades for his starring role in Marty Supreme, Timothée Chalamet suffered his second best actor loss at a high-profile Oscar precursor awards show in a week, losing the Actor Award to Sinners‘ Michael B. Jordan after losing the BAFTA Awards’ best actor prize to surprise winner Robert Aramayo of I Swear.

Additionally, Marty Supreme overall was shut out at the Actor Awards. The film seemed like a strong performer among SAG-AFTRA voters when nominations were announced earlier this year, with the Actor Awards even nominating Odessa A’zion for best supporting actress, as part of the film’s three nominations, including for the top prize of best cast.

Marty Supreme did, however, receive somewhat of a viral marketing moment with host Kristen Bell‘s star-studded table tennis tournament, the winner of which received a trophy that resembled Chalamet.

Marty Supreme‘s fellow three-time Actor Award nominee Frankenstein also went home empty-handed at the ceremony that streamed live on Netflix, which released the Guillermo del Toro film.

Despite going into the Actor Awards with a leading seven nominations, One Battle After Another had to settle for just one award, which went to best supporting actor winner Sean Penn, who wasn’t present to accept the trophy. The film was also nominated in the best actor, actress, supporting actress and best cast categories as well as landing a stunt ensemble nod.

Weapons‘ Amy Madigan was another somewhat surprise winner, though she won the Critics Choice supporting actress award, triumphing over fellow nominees Wunmi Mosaku, who won the best supporting actress BAFTA Award, and Teyana Taylor, who won the Golden Globe.

On the TV side, there were arguably more surprises than snubs, with Keri Russell earning a much-deserved but surprising best drama actress win for her role in the third season of The Diplomat over Emmy winner Britt Lower from Severance and Pluribus‘ acclaimed Rhea Seehorn, who won the Golden Globe.

Similarly, Michelle Williams, who lost the Emmy, Critics Choice Award and Film Independent Spirit Award for her lead role in Dying for Sex and won the Golden Globe but wasn’t in attendance at the ceremony, was a surprise Actor Award winner for best actress in a limited series and, unlike at the Globes, she was there to accept the prize.

One notable TV snub was the complete shutout of four-time nominee The White Lotus, which failed to win a single Actor Award for its third season.
