If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, The Hollywood Reporter may receive an affiliate commission.

To combat the overwhelm of what feels like a million and one channels, DIRECTV is simplifying the choices — and bringing costs down in the process — through curated packs that give customers more of what they want and less of what they don’t.

Best known for its Signature Packages (the service’s comprehensive live TV plans), DIRECTV has introduced more targeted — and therefore, more affordable — Genre Packs. Starting at $19.99 per month* (following a five-day free trial period), these streamlined monthly packs were created as a way for customers to tap into their specific areas of interest without needing to subscribe to tons of separate streaming services (or being required to commit to the provider’s more traditional offerings).

While DIRECTV offers six main Genre Packs — MyEntertainment, MySports, MyNews, MyKids, MiEspañol and the MySports & MyNews Duo — the first is a standout for its balanced mix of live TV channels and on-demand streaming services, namely access to 60-plus entertainment networks along with subscriptions to HBO Max Basic With Ads, Disney+ and Hulu.

Following DIRECTV’s standard five-day free trial period, the MyEntertainment Genre Pack comes out to $34.99 per month*, increasing to $42.99 per month* on June 25. In terms of value, the three included streaming services (HBO Max Basic With Ads, Disney+ and Hulu) come out to over $20 per month on their own. Add on the 60-plus live TV channels and you’re getting a whole lot of bang for your buck.

Customers who select the MyEntertainment pack also have the option to add DIRECTV’s MyCinema Mini Pack for access to 12 movie-centered channels: Sony Movies, Hallmark Mystery, Hallmark Family and FMC (Family Movie Classics), to name a few. Following DIRECTV’s current promotion offering two free months of MyCinema, the add-on costs $9.99 per month*, increasing to $10.99 per month* starting June 25.

Learn more about each Genre Pack’s pricing and channel offerings, take advantage of limited-time promos and sign up for a five-day free trial now at Directv.com/affiliates/genre-packs.
