Variety Awards Circuit section is the home for all awards news and related content throughout the year, featuring the following: the official predictions for the upcoming Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and Tony Awards ceremonies, curated by Variety chief awards editor Clayton Davis. The prediction pages reflect the current standings in the race and do not reflect personal preferences for any individual contender. As other formal (and informal) polls suggest, competitions are fluid and subject to change based on buzz and events. Predictions are updated every Thursday.

Primetime Emmys Predictions Commentary All Categories (Updated: April 30, 2026): Lots of moving pieces and various updates from the past week as the Emmy season’s phase one rolls into full swing.

Most notably, “The Pitt” star Shawn Hatosy delivered the season’s biggest curveball, announcing he’d be switching from guest drama actor, where he won last year, to the supporting drama actor race. The move places him alongside co-star Patrick Ball as part of HBO Max’s deep bench for the medical drama, which remains the prohibitive favorite for outstanding drama series and is positioned to repeat across multiple acting categories. Noah Wyle leads the lead drama actor race, while Katherine LaNasa is poised to defend her supporting drama actress crown, potentially joined by co-stars Taylor Dearden and Sepideh Moafi.

Hatosy’s category jump opens up the guest drama actor field, where Eric Dane (HBO Max’s “Euphoria”) emerges as a new frontrunner alongside fellow contenders Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti (“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy”) and “The Pitt’s” own Jeff Kober.

Paramount+’s neo-western drama “The Madison” and Hulu’s sophomore season of “Deli Boys” have revealed their official campaign submissions for the nominations phase. Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell anchor the Taylor Sheridan series with bids in lead drama actress and supporting drama actor respectively, while “Deli Boys” mounts a 22-category push, including outstanding comedy series and a four-man supporting actor play.

The supporting actress charts for drama, comedy and limited/movie races have debuted. In addition, down below are the first looks at documentary (series), documentary (special), hosted nonfiction, variety special (live) and variety special (pre-recorded).

NOTE: All official category placements in predictions have yet to be confirmed.

Upcoming key dates: category submissions are due May 7, with eligibility ending May 31. Nomination voting runs from June 11-22, with nominations being announced on July 8. Final voting takes place Aug. 17–26, leading into the Creative Arts Emmy Awards and Governors Gala on Sept. 5-6. The Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will be on Sept. 14 on NBC.

Projected nomination leaders (series): “The Pitt” (12); “Hacks” (10); “Beef” and “Pluribus” (9)

Projected nomination leaders (networks): HBO Max (56); Netflix (55); Apple TV (35)
