Social media has, in a rather whimsical way, transformed into “Practical Magic” media in recent years, thanks to the enduring and enthusiastic support for the 1998 film.
We can’t all pack up and move into the bewitching house that appears in the fantasy-filled film, but we can embrace a “Magic”-filled night at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in early August.
That’s when the ensorcelled story will shimmer on the big screen, giving witches and warlocks a chance to socialize and shine.
Cinespia just announced the Aug. 1 screening, along with a few other cinematic gems set to spool out on select August nights.
“The Mummy” from 1999 swashbuckles its way into the destination Aug. 8, a Mia Goth double feature with “X” and “Pearl” will helm the annual Cinespia slumber party Aug. 15, “Coming to America” is the comedic classic set for Aug. 22, and “Labyrinth” wends its way our worlds Aug. 29.
As always, and so very charmingly, a beautifully themed photo booth will add flavor and panache to each screening, so absolutely do arrive wearing your best Bowie-inspired tights or “Mummy”-adventuring outfit.
“The films we’re showcasing this month have earned their place in the cultural conversation because they continue to resonate across generations,” said John Wyatt, the found of Cinespia.
“Bringing these stories back to the big screen in a communal setting is at the heart of what Cinespia has always been.”
Tickets are on sale now and are available for purchase through the Cinespia site. If you’d like to park at Hollywood Forever, do keep in mind that is a separate fee.
And if you’re a See’s Candies fan? Check out the special box created for Cinespia’s 25th anniversary; the goodies will be for sale at each screening.
