The International Film Festival Karlovy Vary officially opened its 60th edition on Friday. Numerous international guests travelled to the famous spa town for the anniversary edition, including Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jesse Eisenberg and Harvey Keitel. Until 11 July, the festival will present more than 130 feature films and documentaries and once again ranks among Europe’s most important film events.
Alongside music and entertainment, the opening ceremony at the Hotel Thermal also featured a number of emotional moments. A special part of the evening was dedicated to the festival’s long-serving president, Jiří Bartoška, who passed away last year and played a decisive role in shaping the festival over several decades.
