With Netflix, Disney and YouTube all getting into the video podcast craze, comedian Jay Mohr is also bringing his successful podcast to video on a new streaming service.
Starting today, “Mohr Stories” — which has been around since 2012 and added video a year and a half ago — will launch a streaming channel with LG (as part of its LG Channels free service) dedicated to his popular pod.
“We have over 100 hours of content already, so the back catalog is substantial,” Mohr tells Page Six Hollywood.
After adding video on Spotify, “Mohr Stories” saw 50% month-over-month growth in consumption hours as video podcasts become the new talkshows.
But Mohr says of the initial change. “I was suddenly aware of the cameras… It really was something I had to learn to do.”
“Everybody’s filming themselves all the time, and they can’t wait to post themselves doing things,” he adds of getting used to video. “The guest will say something, we’ll have a banter, and I’ll think, ‘Oh, that’ll probably be a good clip.’ And then I realize you better stop thinking about that and go back to paying attention to what your guest was saying!” he said.
Upcoming guests on the show include Will Forte, Bad Brains lead singer H.R., “SNL” star James Austin Johnson, comedians Adam Ferrara and Sarah Tiana, and Stephen Pearcy, the former lead singer and founder of hair band Ratt.
Past guests have included Ron Funches, Jay Leno, Joe Mantegna, Patton Oswalt, Kevin Pollak, Andy Richter, George Wallace, Flavor Flav, Gene Simmons, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Lakers legend Byron Scott, and team governor Jeanie Buss, (aka Mohr’s wife since 2023).
