Danny Brocklehurst (Shameless, Fool Me Once) is adapting Roald Dahl‘s short stories into a Netflix show with Naomi Scott (Smile 2), Josh Finan (Say Nothing), Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton) and Dominic West (The Crown) set to star.

The untitled project, from Orchid Pictures, will also feature Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter), Toby Jones (Mr Bates vs. The Post Office), Carmen Ejogo (The Penguin), Christine Tremarco (Adolescence), Michael Socha (The Cage) and Clarke Peters (The Boroughs).

It’ll depict the stories told by the famed Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory author in a series he wrote for adults — not children.

A plot synopsis given to The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday reads: “A young couple, marooned in a faded seaside town, navigate conmen, adulterers, murderous mothers and snake charmers as they attempt to escape before their own fate is sealed.”

The six-part show has already began filming in Manchester and the North West of England this month. It’ll be directed by Runyararo Mapfumo (Sex Education) and Ben Gregor (The Magic Faraway Tree), with Gabriel Silver and Suzanne Mackie executive producing for Orchid Pictures. Brocklehurst will also serve as an EP on the project, and Sarah Lewis as series producer.

It is yet another Roald Dahl adaptation in the works after Netflix announced the Kit Connor and Taika Waititi-led Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory, an animated feature, in April.

The news of the show follows a slew of other confirmed projects out of Edinburgh TV Festival this week, including Barry Keoghan’s Top Boy prequel series and the Kate Winslet-starrer The Unheard, from Adolescence writer Jack Thorne.
