Our verdict
The Hollywood Racks CrossTrack bike rack is a solid, frameless-contact tray rack that offers great overall value. It’s an affordable rack that doesn’t skimp on critical features and provides excellent security and stability overall.
The main standout feature of this rack is in its overall value. It has similar functionality to more expensive racks—albeit with fewer premium features—but at nearly half the cost of many of the most premium options. It is easy to load, tilt, and adjust, and has multiple security options for the bikes and the rack itself.
We tested the CrossTrack on paved and dirt roads around Summit County, Colorado, including highway driving and romping down rough dirt roads. We primarily tested this rack with two full suspension mountain bikes weighing about 30 pounds each.
We think this rack is an excellent choice for folks on a budget who still want a rack that works well for a wide variety of bikes, including ones with carbon frames. While there are some sturdier racks out there, they often cost nearly double the price. So unless you’re constantly romping down very rough dirt roads with bikes loaded up, and instead using your rack for paved road travel and trailhead access, we think the CrossTrack is an excellent choice with a friendly price tag.
