What’s this now? A legitimately laid-back neighborhood bar… on the Sunset Strip? If you have trouble believing it—we sure did—Bar Next Door will convert any skeptics. The dime-sized space on the west end of The Strip (over by Soho House) gets crowded on the weekends, but is pleasantly mellow Sunday through Thursday. That’s when you’ll find coworkers, friends, and the occasional lost tourist all hanging at the bar sipping some truly fantastic cocktails. The signature drinks are named after local landmarks like the rum-based La Cienega and The Viper Room, which is essentially a suped-up pisco sour. We particularly love the Olive Drive, which tastes like a floral Vesper. If you get hungry, order a bar pie (which you pick up next door at Prince Street) or a half-pint of Henry’s Secret Ice Cream.

Food Rundown

Bar Pie

These bar pies are so thin and crispy you could feasibly finish an entire one by yourself and still have room for dinner. And that’s by design. This is not pizza meant to fill you up—it’s a salty bar snack that makes an excellent cocktail taste even better. There’s three varieties: a standard marinara with dried oregano, the “Al Capone” with sausage and giardiniera, and our favorite, the “Lucky Luciano” with mozzarella and spicy vodka sauce.

Henry’s Secret Ice Cream

That’s right, LA’s hardest-to-get ice cream is available by the half-pint at Bar Next Door every night. Flavors change weekly, but just know that whether it’s pistachio brittle or strawbeery shortcake, it’s going to go well with cocktails and pizza.
