She is the producer behind Big Little Lies, Gone Girl and Wild, but Bruna Papandrea got her start in rather less salubrious circumstances – by reading scripts for her friend, Anthony LaPaglia, for $50 a pop.
The South Australian had moved to New York after a break-up, and though she had a little entertainment experience, it was working with LaPaglia that led to her first big break. LaPaglia’s girlfriend at the time, Gia Carides, was working on a film, and Papandrea volunteered to help. She tells the How I Made It podcast that it was “the moment that changed my life”.
