Ragtime broke its own box office record last week, as it hit $1.96 million in its final week on Broadway.
This is the fourth time the show, which won the Tony Award for best revival of a musical, has broken the box office record at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. The final gross firmly cements its status as the highest grossing Broadway show in the history of Lincoln Center Theater.

Ragtime was the second highest grossing show of the week, coming in just behind Hamilton, which brought in $2.1 million. The Lion King was the third highest grossing with $1.89 million, followed by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with $1.7 million and MJ with $1.69 million.
As Ragtime celebrated its final week, a new show came in. Paranormal Activity began previews at the August Wilson Theatre on Aug. 14, coming to Broadway after runs in London, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. The thriller, which shares a name with the film franchise but has an original story, had strong attendance with 100 percent capacity across its first four performances, and brought in $422,257, with an average ticket price of $88. If that pattern continues, it would put the show just above $800,000 for the standard eight performances.
With the prior week’s closure of Cats: The Jellicle Ball and Death of a Salesman, overall industry grosses dropped 20 percent from the prior week, with attendance falling 12 percent. The industry is also seeing drops in attendance and grosses, as the summer tourist season winds down and Broadway gears up for more new shows as part of the fall season. On the lower end of grosses, Two Strangers (Carry A Cake Across New York), which opened in November 2025, saw capacity drop to 65 percent, with the musical bringing in $484,143.
