Vin Diesel is very pleased with the script for the 11th Fast & Furious film.

Diesel took to Instagram on Saturday to share that he’s read the script for Fast Forever, which is slated to release in theaters in 2028 from Universal. In a caption accompanying a trailer for the upcoming theatrical re-release of the original The Fast and the Furious, racing back into theaters on Aug. 21 for its 25th anniversary, the actor wrote: “I just read the Fast Forever script by [Michael Lesslie]. It is the best script I have read in decades. I am still crying.”

He added, “When March 17th 2028 comes… you will thank God you got to see the first one in the theaters this summer.”

Fast Forever will follow 2023’s Fast X, directed by Louis Leterrier. A sequel to Fast X was originally expected to open in theaters in spring 2025 before being delayed. The film starred franchise regulars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang, alongside Jason Statham, John Cena, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson and Alan Ritchson.

Diesel, who is best known for portraying franchise leader Dominic Toretto, announced in February 2024 that the next film would serve as the finale.

Last year, the actor revealed at FuelFest, an automotive event organized by Paul Walker’s brother Cody Walker, that the next movie would mark a “return to the car culture, to the street racing.”

He also teased a reunion between Dom and the late Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Conner. “That is what you’re going to get in the finale,” Diesel said.

Walker, who played Brian throughout the franchise, died in a car crash on Nov. 30, 2013, at age 40. Furious 7 was still in production at the time, so his remaining scenes were completed using CGI, archival footage and his brothers Caleb and Cody Walker as stand-ins.

Fast & Furious franchise has grossed more than $7 billion worldwide. Peacock is also developing a TV series based on the films.
