Ready. Set. Action … Sing!

The Yakima Symphony Chorus and Yakima Valley College Chorus present an unforgettable evening of Hollywood’s greatest movie music. “Hollywood in Harmony” will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Yakima Valley College’s Kaminski Conference Center, 1704 W. Nob Hill Blvd., Building #38.

Audiences of all ages are invited to experience the emotion, drama and excitement of movie music through the power of live choral performance. Under the direction of Chorusmaster Steven S. Slusher, the concert highlights the versatility and artistry of choral music while honoring the composers and soundtracks that have become part of popular film culture around the world.

“Hollywood in Harmony” promises a cinematic musical voyage that captures the imagination through music that enriched epic movie moments, such as John Williams’ “Duel of the Fates” and “Dry Your Tears, Afrika,” action of blockbuster favorites like the “Lord of the Rings” soundtrack, and the charm of “O Brother, Where Art Thou.”

The evening also highlights past and future concerts with the Yakima Symphony Orchestra. The program includes “O Fortuna” from Carmina Burana (“Excalibur,” “G-Force”), which was performed in the Symphony’s 2025–2026 season. We look ahead to the Symphony’s 2026–2027 season with “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (“Sister Act 2”).

The Yakima Symphony Chorus’ 2025–2026 Young Artists are showcased in a small ensemble arrangement from “The Pink Panther,” duet of the “Sull’ Aria” (“Shawshank Redemption”), solo performances of “Largo al factotum” (“Mrs. Doubtfire”) and the beloved “Nessun Dorma” (“Mission Impossible”).

This evening brings to life films’ unique ability to connect audiences to memories and emotions through the power of the human voice. Designed to appeal to movie lovers and music enthusiasts alike, the performance combines the love of live entertainment with the nostalgia and depth we associate with our favorite films.

The concert reflects the enduring influence of Hollywood while showcasing the choir’s commitment to artistic mastery and engaging community performances.
