To quote Girls Aloud, it’s been a long, hot summer – where it really has been 95 degrees in the shade – but as the cooler temperatures and on-off rain has reminded us, autumn is right around the corner. That means the TV schedules are about to be filled with all the big hitters: Celebrity Traitors, Bake Off, Drag Race, Strictly, Only Murders, Taskmaster, Yellowjackets and Slow Horses – to name just a few.
And while we all tuned into Ann Droid, House of the Dragon, The Vampire Lestat, Ted Lasso, etc, this summer, there are some shows that have gone under the radar over the last few months.
So before the dark nights set in and your TV time is taken up by all the big names, now is the perfect chance to catch up on some of the summer shows you may have missed.
The Rapture
Starring Doctor Who‘s Ruth Madeley, this psychological thriller focuses on a forensic psychologist who, in psychiatric hospital, meets a teenager who has been convicted of murder and claims she has psychic powers.
The youngster insists that an apocalyptic disaster is imminent, but is she telling the truth or just trying to manipulate everyone around her?
The Rapture can be streamed on BBC iPlayer now.
Ride or Die
An action-comedy starring Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer – with Bill Nighy in a supporting role – feels like it should been a lot bigger than it was. Unfortunately, this one came and went pretty quickly, but that’s why we’re here to shine a well-deserved light on it!
The plot follows two close friends who have to go on the run when it’s revealed that one of them is secretly an assassin. Can the duo survive – and if they do, can their friendship?

Sterling Point
A slow-burn will-they-wont-they romantic drama in the mould of The Summer I Turned Pretty, this show follows a young woman as she moves into a remote Canadian island, where a love triangle inevitably unfolds.
This one sets itself apart by dedicating a lot of time to a long-buried family mystery, while The Walking Dead fans will get a kick out of seeing Jeffrey Dean Morgan in a very different type of project.
