Taking over the former Den on Sunset, Galerie claims to “blur the line between restaurant, cocktail bar, and art gallery.” Sure. What it really is: A clubby, fairly generic dinner spot in a part of West Hollywood with plenty of them. But that’s not to say this French-ish spot doesn’t have redeeming qualities. The sunken dining room right off the Sunset Strip feels like a secluded country house (with a DJ booth, of course), and the cocktails are well-made, albeit $24 a pop. Dishes like fried brussels sprouts tossed in green goddess, and the excellent lumache pasta— essentially luxe mac and cheese in a skillet—are enjoyable bar food, but there’s no need to commit to a full dinner. If you’re out on Sunset Strip, swing by Galerie for a drink and a bite, then move on before the DJ starts spinning.
