Antoine Fuqua’s biopic, centered on the life of Michael Jackson, is achieving significant success at the global box office, positioning itself as one of the top five highest-grossing Hollywood releases of 2026. The film has consistently outperformed daily earnings of other major releases, including Oppenheimer, and is on track to surpass the impressive $900 million mark set by Bohemian Rhapsody.

In its second Friday of release, the biopic garnered an impressive $14.4 million in North America, marking a 63.3% drop from its opening Friday. This figure represents the second-largest second Friday ever recorded for a biopic, surpassing Oppenheimer’s $13.4 million and only trailing behind American Sniper’s $18.2 million. Additionally, it ranks as the second-largest Friday for live-action films in 2026, closely following Project Hail Mary’s $14.7 million.

After eight days in theaters, the domestic total for the film stands at $144.2 million. Projections indicate that by the end of the weekend, the film could accumulate approximately $232.5 million from international markets and an additional $180.8 million from North America, bringing its worldwide total to an estimated $413.3 million. This milestone makes it the third Hollywood release of the year to surpass the $400 million mark by its second weekend, joining the ranks of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Project Hail Mary.

As for its performance in the coming weekend, the Michael Jackson biopic is expected to earn between $50 million and $60 million during its second weekend in North America. However, it is anticipated to lose its top position at the domestic box office due to the release of Devil Wears Prada 2. The film has outperformed other notable releases, including Elvis and Straight Outta Compton, solidifying its place in the competitive landscape of 2026 cinema.

Released on April 24, the film chronicles the early life of the iconic singer, focusing on his time with the Jackson 5 in the 1960s and his Bad tour in the late 1980s. As the box office figures continue to roll in, the biopic is poised to make a lasting impact on audiences and the industry alike.
