Busta Rhymes will be honored with the 2,818th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, August 1, at 11:30 am PT at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard in front of East Town. Rhymes will receive his star in the category of Recording. Joining emcee Big Boy as speakers will be Chris Rock, LL Cool J and Chuck D.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce administers the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame for the City of Los Angeles and has proudly hosted the globally iconic star ceremonies for decades. Millions of people from here and worldwide have visited this cultural landmark since 1960.

His catalog boasts over 60 million records certified gold and platinum, a testament to his lasting global impact. Time and again, he’s proven that he’s not just an artist – he’s a force of nature.
From humble beginnings in Brooklyn and Long Island, Busta launched his career as a founding member of the influential culture-shifting collective Leaders of the New School. He burst onto the national scene with a distinctive vocal style, kinetic stage presence, and visually groundbreaking music videos that helped redefine the genre.
Busta’s solo rise began with his game-changing 1996 debut, The Coming, but it was his sophomore album, When Disaster Strikes…, that Pitchfork famously called “the turning point” of his career. From there, he delivered hit after hit – classics like “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See,” “Break Ya Neck,” and “Touch It” – cementing his status as one of hip-hop’s most versatile MCs and electrifying performers. BET Jams even crowned “Put Your Hands…” the Greatest Hip-Hop Video of All Time, while MTV hailed him as “one of hip-hop’s greatest visual artists.”
Revered by peers across generations, Jay-Z and KRS-One have both called him “the greatest performer of all time,” while Phife Dawg dubbed him “the James Brown of hip-hop.” Busta has collaborated with a staggering list of legends and icons, including Dr. Dre, Janet Jackson, Eminem, Missy Elliott, Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, and even Ozzy Osbourne and Dave Chappelle.
In 2022, Busta was honored with the prestigious BMI Icon Award, celebrating his unparalleled influence as a songwriter, artist, and cultural innovator. And he made history in the early 2000s with a Guinness World Record for the most words in a hit single -“Break Ya Neck” – a testament to his lightning-fast lyrical delivery and technical mastery.
Beyond music, Busta has made memorable appearances in film and television, with standout roles in Higher Learning, Finding Forrester, Narc, and Shaft, as well as voice work in animated favorites like The Rugrats Movie. His music continues to impact the big screen: he’s featured on “Taking Everything,” the explosive opening track for the film Bad Guys 2, further cementing his place as a cross-platform cultural force. On August 1, he returns to theaters in Paramount’s highly anticipated reboot of The Naked Gun, starring alongside Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, and Cody Rhodes—coinciding with his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star ceremony.

He hit the road in 2022 as a special guest on the N.Y. State of Mind Tour, a co-headlining run featuring Wu‑Tang Clan and Nas. In 2023, he joined 50 Cent on the massively successful Final Lap world tour, performing for sold-out crowds around the globe.
