Frank Sinatra with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra headlined the inaugural show at this Hollywood theater on Halloween night 1940. Today, after a recent multimillion-dollar renovation in 2023, the space is spruced up and the 11,200-square-foot dance floor is more inviting than ever—though the venue still honors the past with its original hardwood floors and nods to Streamline Moderne design.

On the calendar, you’ll find a full, genre-spanning lineup of bands—and it seems to be the go-to spot for big names in music who’re seeking out shows on the more intimate side, as evidenced by recent sold-out shows by acts like Jack White and the Gorillaz.

A new on-site restaurant, Vinyl Room, only adds to the venue’s appeal, with 1970s vibes and a menu of delicious Japanese-inspired cuisine—though you have to pay around $35 for a lounge pass to get in, and that’s before food and drinks. If that seems a bit steep, you can head to the lobby concessions stand for pizza, popcorn, churros and cocktails.
