It’s time to grab a super suit — Incredibles 3 is on the way.

At the D23 fan event in Anaheim on Friday, Disney debuted a first look at the new film, which is set just a few weeks after Incredibles 2 and will be centered on the superhero kids and their evolving powers. Pixar‘s Pete Docter said it would round out the family’s trilogy and “it’s the kids’ turn to take the spotlight.” Violet and Dash are determined to step out on their own, which is causing some tension with their parents, and Jack-Jack’s powers are getting more out of control as he grows. Docter said they would face off against a supervillain with more powers than all the family put together.

The Incredibles franchise follows a family of superheroes, each with their own special powers. Though they are forced to hide these powers following a government mandate, Mr. and Mrs. Incredible — and their three kids Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack — still find a way to save the world, while also juggling the usual family hi-jinks. Brad Bird wrote the screenplays for and directed the first two films in the franchise, which earned a combined $1.8 billion at the box office and landed a best animated film Oscar for the 2004 original.

Bird also wrote the third film, but Peter Sohn (who previously helmed Elemental and The Good Dinosaur) has taken over as director for the threequel. Incredibles 3 is set to hit theaters June 18, 2028, with franchise stars Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson and Sarah Vowell again leading the voice cast.

Sohn has worked on every one of Bird’s animated movies (including The Incredibles and Incredibles 2) up until this year’s Ray Gunn, an animated sci-fi that Bird directed and is landing on Netflix in December. THR previously reported that Bird has been a mentor to Sohn, and Sohn was specifically chosen to carry The Incredibles torch by Bird and Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter.
