What Is Critterz?

Critterz is an AI animated film that follows a troupe of cute digital creatures as they explore a bright new world. The first look at the movie shows bright colors, big eyes, and a playful tone that feels made for families. The project started last year, but fans finally see a preview as the film moves toward the Cannes market with AGC Studios.

The Story Behind the Film

OpenAI producer Chad Nelson teams up with writers who crafted Paddington in Peru to bring a mix of heart and tech to the script. Director Nik Kleverov, who created opening titles for Narcos and an AI powered Toys”R”Us commercial, now leads the creative vision for Critterz. He says the film aims to let artists focus on the story while AI handles repetitive tasks.

The AI Production Platform

Vertigo Films and Federation Studios launch a new AI native production company called amersia. Their first technology platform, Woven, powers the entire Critterz pipeline. James Richardson, CEO of amersia, explains that every major shift in entertainment began when creators gained new tools. He calls AI the next inflection point and promises that Woven will give artists the power to create at a scale that was impossible before.

Woven was built as an internal production system for Critterz. It now runs tests with select media partners and will roll out more widely in the coming months. The platform focuses on human led creativity. Kleverov notes that AI should remove friction, not replace judgment. By automating routine steps, the team can spend more time on decisions that matter.

Industry Impact

Critterz serves as amersia’s first major showcase of AI animation technology. The film shows how AI movie production can move from experimental labs into mainstream Hollywood. Critics wonder if audiences will fully accept AI created animated features, but the early response suggests curiosity and excitement.

The project also highlights a new Hollywood AI venture that could shape the next decade of storytelling. If more studios adopt similar pipelines, we may see a wave of quirky, cute characters rendered with AI tools. That future may feel strange, but it also promises fresh visual experiences.

Overall, Critterz offers a glimpse of how AI animated film can blend charm with cutting edge tech. It invites viewers to imagine a world where artists and machines work side by side to bring new stories to life.
