The announcement that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are moving back to the United Kingdom with their children raises a practical question that their fans and critics alike are already asking: What happens to their Hollywood projects? The couple have built a substantial entertainment operation since leaving royal duties in 2020, signing a landmark deal with Netflix and producing a string of documentaries, a lifestyle series, and several films currently in development. The move also raises a more personal question for Meghan specifically: In 2018, she left her role on Suits when she relocated to the UK to marry Prince Harry, but last year it was reported that she was returning to acting, and she now has a forthcoming acting role in the UK.

Just last August, the Sussexes and Netflix signed a new multi-year first-look deal. The agreement gives Netflix first right of refusal on new projects from the couple’s company, Archewell Productions. “The extension of it, which was such an incredible sign of the strength of our partnership, was now being in a first look deal, which is also exciting because it gives us flexibility to go to our partners first and then at the same time to be able to shop content that might not be the right fit for Netflix, but has a home somewhere else,” Meghan said last fall. It’s unclear if the Sussexes plan to shop content to UK partners.

Since first partnering with Netflix in 2020, Archewell Productions has released several projects, the most notable being Harry & Meghan, a six-part documentary series that premiered in December 2022 and explored their relationship from early courtship to stepping back as senior working royals. They also executive produced Live to Lead (2022), which featured interviews with global leaders on social justice and activism; Heart of Invictus (2023), which followed wounded service members competing in the Invictus Games; and Polo (2024), a behind-the-scenes look at professional polo. With Love, Meghan launched in 2025 as the couple’s first scripted lifestyle series. Most recently, the couple were producers on Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within, a short documentary about an orphanage in the Masaka region of Uganda. Outside of Netflix, they produced Cookie Queens, a documentary following four ambitious Girl Scouts as they sell cookies.

Here, where each of their ongoing projects currently stand:

Meghan’s lifestyle series, in which she hosts friends and shares her approach to cooking, entertaining, and everyday living, debuted with its first season on Netflix in March 2025 and was quickly renewed. Season two premiered just a few months later that August, immediately followed by a holiday special in November. The show featured guests including Mindy Kaling, Chrissy Teigen, Tan France, and chef Roy Choi. This summer, the series received its first Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Lifestyle Series category at the Daytime Emmy Awards. However, the show has not been renewed for a third season. Instead, a spokesperson for the Sussexes previously told Variety that the series will shift to occasional seasonal specials, similar to the holiday program.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex served as executive producers on Cookie Queens, a documentary following four ambitious Girl Scouts as they sell cookies. The film premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January. Director Alysa Nahmias told People that Meghan had a personal connection to the subject as the Duchess is a former Girl Scout herself, and her mother Doria was her troop leader, both in the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles council. With awards season approaching, there is always the possibility that Cookie Queens could be submitted for consideration in documentary categories.

Among one of the longer-term projects at Archewell Productions has been the film adaptation of Carley Fortune’s bestselling romance novel, Meet Me on the Lake. The book centers on two strangers who spend a day together and make a promise, with life-changing consequences. Archewell acquired the rights in August 2023 with the intent of adapting it for Netflix. Fortune said this summer on Jenna Bush Hager’s podcast that a director has been attached, though the name has not been announced. The screenplay is still being refined and no casting or release date has been announced. “I felt like they really understood the story and what mattered about the story,” Fortune said of working with Meghan and the Archewell team.

Harry and Meghan came aboard last year as producers on a Netflix adaptation of The Wedding Date, the debut novel by New York Times bestselling author Jasmine Guillory. The rom-com follows a political strategist who strikes a deal with a stranger she meets in an elevator to attend a wedding together. Girls Trip screenwriter Tracy Oliver is adapting the script and will also produce alongside the couple. No casting or release date has been announced.

Bad Manners

In June 2023, the Wall Street Journal reported Prince Harry and Meghan were developing a prequel series to Great Expectations centered around the character of Miss Havisham, with the working title, Bad Manners. However, it’s unclear if this is still in the works or was never picked up. It’s possible Netflix passed or cut due to cost-cutting measures, similar to Meghan’s animated series Pearl in 2022.

In November 2025, it was reported that Meghan would appear as herself in Close Personal Friends, a comedy from Amazon MGM Studios starring Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding. It marked her first return to acting since leaving her role on Suits in 2018 following her engagement to Prince Harry.

“It was great,” Meghan told Variety when asked about filming the movie. “It was a lot of fun. But that’s just the point, right? We continue to explore different ways to uplift and celebrate the entertainment industry and all the incredible pieces of work that are out there that people work so hard on.” Amazon has not announced a release date, and the film is still in post-production.

Today, an Australian publication revealed that the Duchess of Sussex has been offered a role in an “upcoming project based in the UK.” The BBC reported that the role was an acting role, which T&C understands to be the case.
