Supergirl’s Early box office Momentum Is Starting to Raise Eyebrows

The battle for superhero box office supremacy never really ends, and the latest contender stepping into the spotlight is Supergirl. While it’s still far too early to predict where the film will ultimately land, the first wave of presale tracking data is giving DC fans plenty of reasons to feel optimistic.

According to early tracking comparisons, Supergirl is already performing at a pace that places it in the conversation alongside several major superhero releases from the past few years. And that’s a significant development considering the pressure surrounding every new DC Studios project following the launch of james Gunn’s rebooted cinematic universe.

The most eye-catching comparison comes against Fantastic Four. Current data suggests Supergirl is tracking at roughly 65% of that film’s first six-hour presale pace. Considering Fantastic Four went on to deliver $24.4 million in previews and a massive $117.6 million opening weekend, that comparison alone is enough to grab attention.

The numbers become even more interesting when placed alongside other recent superhero releases. Supergirl is reportedly tracking at around 92% of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s early pace, a film that opened with $106.1 million domestically. It is also running at approximately 70% of Captain America: Brave New World’s first-day pace and roughly 80% of Thunderbolts’ early performance.

Perhaps the most closely watched comparison, however, is Superman. As the film that officially launched DC’s new era, it serves as the most relevant benchmark. Current figures place Supergirl at around 54% of Superman’s first-day presale pace. While that gap is notable, it is far from alarming, especially considering Superman’s iconic status and broader mainstream recognition.

The bigger takeaway is simple: audience interest is clearly there. Presales are showing healthy momentum, fan curiosity appears strong, and the film is already positioning itself as one of the more closely watched superhero releases on the calendar.

The road to opening weekend is still long, but one thing is becoming increasingly clear — Supergirl isn’t arriving quietly. It’s already making enough noise to force the industry to pay attention.
