The line snaked around the block, outside the Hollywood in Vancouver, BC. Despite the dreary weather, the crowd were definitely amped to see Geese, in the intimate theatre. The last time the Brooklyn band rolled through town, they played an abbreviated set opening for King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard in an arena. Tonight it was all Geese.

Anne Arbour, Michigan band Racing Mount Pleasant opened the show with tracks of off their recently self titled album. The eight piece, including horn section won the crowd over with their warm and intimate sounds, reminded me of another show at said venue – Black Country New Road, which is not a bad thing.

Gesse hit the stage hit the stage with front man Cameron Winter, receiving a warm reception from the adoring crowd, even gaining more love, with his back and forth banter – touching on local geography, The World Series, and even letting a fan facetime him during the show. Drummer Max Bassin was a particular standout, a whirlwind of flailing limbs and thunderous fills that served as the set’s relentless engine.

The setlist was a comprehensive journey through their 2025 LP, Getting Killed. The band’s set list, included fan favorites from their LP 3D Country. When they launched into the frenetic, cow-punk ripper “2122,” the floor transformed into a joyous, sweaty mess. Bassist Dominic DiGesu, grinning as he swapped between his bass and a set of bongos, seemed to be having as much fun as the audience.

The band ended the show with “Trinidad,” saving their best for last, Geese had done more than just play a gig; they had hosted a rock ‘n’ roll revival, proving they are not just a a buzz band, but a genuinely proficient and thrilling live band. If you were one of the lucky few who managed to get in, you know you saw something special.
