The Michael Jackson biopic Michael has made a stunning comeback at the global box office, reclaiming the number one position in its fourth week and crossing the massive $700 million mark worldwide.

Starring Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop Michael Jackson, the film continues to dominate theatres despite strong competition from newly released Hollywood films.

According to industry estimates, Michael earned $26.1 million in North America during its fourth weekend. Globally, the film collected more than $60 million over the weekend, making it the highest-grossing movie worldwide once again.

‘Michael’ Beats New Releases at the Box Office

The biographical drama outperformed several major new releases, including The Devil Wears Prada 2, which debuted with $18 million in North America.

Meanwhile, horror thriller Obsession opened in third place with $16.1 million, followed by Mortal Kombat II and family entertainer The Sheep Detectives.

Trade analysts say the strong performance of Michael highlights the enduring global popularity of Michael Jackson’s music and legacy.

‘Michael’ Crosses $700 Million Worldwide

The film has now collected approximately $282 million in North America and an additional $420 million overseas, pushing its total worldwide earnings to nearly $703 million.

With this achievement, Michael has officially become one of the highest-grossing biopics in cinema history. It currently trails only Oppenheimer and Bohemian Rhapsody in the all-time biopic rankings.

Industry experts believe the film could soon cross the $900 million milestone if its current momentum continues. There is also growing speculation that Michael could become the first-ever biopic to enter the billion-dollar club globally.

Fans Praise Jaafar Jackson’s Performance

One of the biggest talking points surrounding the film has been the performance of Jaafar Jackson, nephew of Michael Jackson, in his debut acting role. Fans and critics alike have praised his resemblance, dance style and stage presence.

The movie showcases several iconic songs and performances from Michael Jackson’s legendary career, drawing huge crowds to theatres worldwide.

However, the film has also faced criticism for not addressing allegations and controversies linked to the late pop icon’s personal life. Despite the debate, audience turnout has remained exceptionally strong.

A Historic Run Continues

With limited competition in the coming weeks and strong audience interest across international markets, Michael is expected to continue its record-breaking run at the box office.

The film’s success further proves the unmatched global influence of Michael Jackson, whose music and cultural impact continue to resonate with audiences decades later.
