Curry Barker is fielding some pretty major offers following the runaway success of his indie horror movie, Obsession.

The 26-year-old YouTuber-turned-director, whose directorial debut defied the odds and increased its box office haul in its second weekend, is now getting offers for his next project, which he hasn’t even pitched yet.

One studio is so intent on working with him that they’ve “attempted to make a preemptive offer of $10 million for Barker’s next original project, sight unseen,” a source tells THR.

According to sources, due to a prior deal made before Obsession‘s release, Universal has the right to first negotiations with Curry.

A third studio is also “said to be marshaling forces to make a move” as well.

His next movie Anything But Ghosts is already shot and being edited, and he’s already set to write and direct a Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot for A24.

There are no details just yet about whatever the next project might be, and no producers are attached. It’s possible he’s meeting with Universal about it as early as “today” (May 27), per the report.

“Some see the situation potentially resulting in a contest between Universal and that first studio (or others) that might reach $20 million,” the outlet adds.

Obsession was made for $750,000, and currently commands a $62.3 million haul at the domestic box office. Find out which scene almost got them a NC-17 rating.
