Disney is celebrating America’s 250th Independence Day with special themed treats throughout the theme parks. At Rosie’s All-American Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests can get the new Red Velvet Riveter cake inspired by Rosie the Riveter.

Red Velvet Riveter – $5.99

Red Velvet Cake with Fudge Filling topped with Cream Cheese Icing, Ginger Streusel, Star Sprinkles, and a White Chocolate Garnish

This is a sweet tribute to the women who declared “We Can Do It!” during World War II. The red velvet cake carries most of the workload while the toppings and fillings provide a tasty assist. The cake is moist and served at room temperature, which allows the flavors to shine.

The minimalistic frosting keeps the dish from being overwhelmed by sweetness. The hint of fudge provides just a touch of chocolate flavor without detracting from the cake.

Our only complaint is that there’s little ginger streusel topping. We don’t think it’s needed but you’ll be disappointed if that was a factor behind your decision to order the cake.

It’s a well balanced dessert that won’t make too much of a mess in the heat.
