Divorced! Beheaded! Died! With just three words, you are transported back to the world of Renaissance England, where history isn’t just written in textbooks but rather brought to life through song.

The National Tour of “SIX The Musical” kicked off its opening night on Feb. 19 at the Pantages Theatre. Watching this show definitely blew my head off, and coming from a show about six wives who know a thing or two about losing theirs, definitely says something.

“SIX The Musical” follows the story of Henry the VIII’s six wives. Throughout the performance, each wife shares their true story of what they experienced during Henry’s reign.

The musical officially opened on Broadway Oct. 3, 2021 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and is currently playing on Broadway in London and on a national tour.

The opening night cast featured Emma Elizabeth Smith (Catherine of Aragon), Nella Cole (Anne Boleyn), Kelly Denice Taylor (Jane Seymour), Hailey Alexis Lewis (Anne of Cleves), Alizè Cruz (Katherine Howard), and Tasia Jungbauer (Catherine Parr).

As a history fanatic, this musical brought the stories of Henry VIII’s six wives to life in the most entertaining way possible. From the songs to puns, this musical is full of laughter and will definitely bring tears to your eyes literally and figuratively.

One unique feature that I loved about this show was that the entire cast and musicians consisted of all women. The representation of feminism shows how powerful women’s voices can be.

Winner of 26 awards, I can definitely say that this show was a SIX out of SIX. These queens rocked the entire stage with unbelievable vocals and dancing. The energy around the entire performance was eccentric and definitely brought chills down my spine.

“SIX The musical” is playing at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre through March 8 and will play at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, Calif. from March 10-15.

Make sure to grab your tickets and experience a night full of incredible music and history.
