Netflix broke out its checkbook, and yada, yada, yada, Seinfeld is staying on the streamer for another five years.

Sony Pictures Television has renewed its Seinfeld licensing agreements with Netflix and Paramount — the latter will keep the show’s basic-cable rights for three more years. Netflix has streaming exclusivity in the U.S. and Canada; Paramount’s cable rights are U.S.-only (and existing syndication deals with Nexstar, Tegna and Scripps, remain in place). Seinfeld airs on Comedy Central, nightly on TV Land and occasionally on other Paramount cable networks.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Seinfeld debuted in 1989 on NBC. Though it got off to a slow start, it is generally considered one of the best sitcoms of all time. And Seinfeld is still a huge hit: Nielsen says nearly 60 million Americans (or roughly 20 percent of the entire U.S. population) has watched Seinfeld over the first six months of 2026. The series is Comedy Central’s most-watched “off-network series” and TV Land’s second-most-watched program among adults 25-54. (It is likely Everybody Loves Raymond is TV Land’s top show in the demo — the full rankings were not made available.)

“Seinfeld is one of the most iconic and enduring series in television history, and we’re thrilled to continue our successful partnerships with both Netflix and Paramount to bring this remarkable series to audiences around the world,” said Keith Le Goy, chairman of Sony Pictures Television. “Seinfeld demonstrates that exceptional intellectual property stands the test of time. The show’s timeless humor, unforgettable characters and multigenerational appeal continue to create tremendous value for our partners while introducing one of television’s greatest comedies to new generations of fans.”

“The show famously about nothing is in fact, everything, and we’re proud to be the streaming home of Seinfeld, one of the greatest comedies in the history of TV,” said Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix.

“As one of the most influential and enduring comedies in television history, Seinfeld continues to resonate with audiences across generations, and we’re proud that Paramount will remain its exclusive cable home,” said George Cheeks, chair of TV Media at Paramount. “Iconic franchises like Seinfeld are foundational to our programming strategy, and this renewal reinforces our commitment to delivering fan-favorite series that audiences love.”
