As St. Regis continues to expand its global portfolio, the luxury hotel’s Mexico footprint is following suit.

With both Cancun and Los Cabos properties set to open later this year, St. Regis’ buzzy 2026 openings join the brand’s three existing Mexico properties: The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya (opened 2023), along with its two original Mexico properties, The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and The St. Regis Mexico City, opened in 2008 and 2009, respectively. While vastly different in style, these two properties have something in common: They draw quite the crowd of A-listers (Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, Daniel Craig and Sofia Vergara, to name a few).

After experiencing the brand’s two OG Mexico properties firsthand, it’s evident why Hollywood’s elite can’t seem to stay away: St. Regis’ service is, quite frankly, in a league of its own. Its signature, 24/7 butler service takes care of everything from morning coffee (perfect iced lattes, might we add) to unpacking and packing, restaurant reservations and the crème de la crème of city recommendations, especially helpful for first-timers.

While the top tier service certainly ties these two properties — and St. Regis properties as a whole — together, the individual hotels are, as expected, entirely different (and intentionally so; more on that later). Highlights from each include the following.

The moment you enter The St. Regis Punta Mita, the view from the lobby really does speak for itself, and its serene soul extends throughout the property, from the luxe outdoor showers to the pristine spa, upgraded in 2024 as part of the resort’s multi-year, $45M renovation. Along with its enhanced wellness spot, the renovation introduced beachfront villas and redesigned rooms, maintaining the hotel’s bones while keeping it top of class.

Around the same time, the resort appointed Chef Pablo Arias as its executive chef, which brings us to the next highlight: the food and drink. Not only is Arias outrageously charming, he’s also a gastronomical mastermind. The hotel’s culinary offerings completely blew away expectations. And if your visit allows, don’t miss the Flavors of Punta Mita event, which extends the property’s theme of elite eats to the surrounding area. (See more favorites in THR‘s The Hollywood Travel Guide to Punta Mita, Mexico.)

The first-rate food game continues at The St. Regis Mexico City, a true standout of the property and, of course, the capital as a whole. For a city celebrated for its gastronomic scene, the St. Regis Mexico City not only doesn’t disappoint, but also serves as an extension of the city’s well-deserved reputation.

Diana Restaurant is a property staple. Do not miss the Pizza Aguacate (avocado pizza). In fact, order it every chance you get. The rib eye tacos are also killer. Stop by the sophisticated, cult-favorite King Cole Bar for the signature bloody Mary. The paloma, too. Beyond the food (clearly a standout), the location of St. Regis Mexico City is premium, perfectly situated on the iconic Paseo de la Reforma. The views are, in turn, equally outstanding.

These two properties exemplify the brand’s evolution into the resort portfolio, while still maintaining the world’s best urban addresses. And at the end of the day, what St. Regis excels at is maintaining a through line of impeccable service and luxury while simultaneously making each property unique, thoughtfully defining the resort space with depth and cultural integrity.

The offerings of each hotel mirror the unique landscape in which they reside. At St. Regis Mexico City, the brand’s urban DNA comes to life through its deep connection to the capital’s art scene, gastronomy and cultural heritage, while at its Punta Mita property, St. Regis interprets the same values through a completely different environment: expansive landscapes, unspoiled coastline and a sense of escape that feels immersive.
