Stephanie Mills – on stage

*Stephanie Mills is stirring debate about respect in the music industry, Mya is clearing up misconceptions about marriage and motherhood, and Hollywood has a new reason to celebrate as the domestic box office reaches a milestone not seen since before the pandemic.

Here’s what’s making entertainment news.

Stephanie Mills Questions Why Younger Artists Never Seek Her Advice

Stephanie Mills is generating discussion after revealing that no younger artist has ever approached her for career advice.

During a recent appearance on “The Morning Hustle,” the Grammy-winning singer said she has never been asked for guidance by newer performers. Mills suggested some younger artists may view veteran entertainers as “has-beens” rather than valuable resources, adding that many fail to recognize the foundation built by previous generations, WTLC reports.

Mills said she learned from and respected artists who came before her, including Diana Ross, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight. Despite her criticism, she praised contemporary artists Cardi B and Muni Long.

The singer clears up where she really stands on having children and the alignment that she’d need in her life and from a partner to make it happen.

Mya Clarifies Viral Comments About Motherhood

Mya is addressing speculation that she does not want children.

Speaking in a preview clip from “The Jason Lee Show,” the singer said previous comments about motherhood were taken out of context. “It’s not even my focus, and it never has been,” she previously said while discussing why marriage and motherhood were never priorities for her.

The 46-year-old explained that having children would require the right circumstances, including a loving relationship, emotional safety and financial stability. She also said she remains open to adoption in the future.

May Box Office Hits $1 Billion Without Marvel

Hollywood reached a major milestone in May as domestic box office revenue topped an estimated $1.06 billion, according to TheWrap and Box Office Mojo.

The achievement marks the first billion-dollar May since 2019 and only the ninth in industry history. What makes the feat especially notable is that it happened without a Marvel release.

Previous billion-dollar Mays were largely driven by superhero blockbusters such as “Thor,” “Iron Man 3,” “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and multiple “Avengers” films. The latest milestone offers another encouraging sign for theaters as the industry continues its post-pandemic recovery.

From music industry mentorship to personal life choices and Hollywood’s financial recovery, each story reflects ongoing conversations about legacy, expectations and change in entertainment.
