It did so again this weekend, collecting USD 19 million in ticket sales to bring its North American haul to USD 188.3 million and its worldwide total to USD 286.5 million.Having cost less than USD 1 million to make, ‘Obsession’ ranks among the most profitable releases in recent memory. Focus acquired it for USD 15 million. The film is now projected to finish its global run somewhere between USD 390 million and USD 420 million dollars. If it reaches that range, it would become the highest-grossing live-action original film of the decade.
‘Scary Movie’ crosses USD 88 million mark
Last weekend’s top film, ‘Scary Movie’ slid to third place with USD 14.5 million.
