Studiocanal had a great Cannes.

The European producer/distributor closed major deals across its slate at this year’s Marche du Film, topped by a $30+ million deal with Paramount Pictures for its red-hot pre-sales title The Midnight Library, produced by, and starring, Florence Pugh.

As previously announced, Paramount won a bidding war to secure rights for North America and several international territories for the feature. Garth Davis is set to direct the fantasy drama, an adaptation of Matt Haig’s bestseller about a woman who finds a mystical library that allows her to explore the infinite versions of her life. Studiocanal will release The Midnight Library across their territorial footprint, including in France, Germany, the U.K. and Australia/New Zealand, with partners Scanbox releasing in Scandinavia, Sun Africa Group/MultiChoice in South Africa, and Filmcoopi in Switzerland. Production on the film is set for early 2027.

Studiocanal on Monday also confirmed it was in presale negotiations for its new Paddington animated film, which company CEO Anna Marash announced at CinemaCon in April. The animated feature will roll out alongside a planned fourth live-action Paddington, for which Armando Iannucci and Simon Blackwell are currently writing the screenplay.

Other big sales titles for the studio included Violette, the upcoming feature from Amelie director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, which had its market debut in Cannes and sold to more than 20 distributors worldwide; the Fred Cavayé adaptation of Les Misérables which closed with more than 25 international distributors off a promo in Cannes; the Taron Egerton comedy-thriller Everybody Wants to F*ck Me, which Studiocanal said was acquired across Europe, Asia and Latin America; Simon Stone’s Elsinore with Andrew Scott and Olivia Colman; and Danny Boyle’s upcoming drama Ink, starring Guy Pearce, Jack O’Connell, and Claire Foy, which closed for more than 20 territories.

Studiocanal is planning to bow Les Misérables in France on Oct. 14 and Violette on Dec.9. It will roll out both Everybody Wants to F*ck Me and Ink across its territory footprint in 2027. Elsinore is going out in the US via LD Entertainment and via Studiocanal across their territory footprint in 2027.

Among its finished films, Studiocanal confirmed multiple territory deals for Cannes festival titles, including Rudi Rosenberg’s Un Certain Regard film Words of Love, Volker Schlöndorff’s Visitation,, and Jeanne Herry’s competition selection Another Day.

Studiocanal will open Another Day in France Sept.23, Words of Love on Oct. 28.
