The Devil Wears Prada 2 is performing well at the global box office. Earlier this week, it exceeded the total worldwide earnings of the 2006 film, also helmed by David Frankel, in just nine days. Currently, the film has grossed over $433 million globally and is projected to reach approximately $650 to $750 million throughout its run. The original film’s stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, have all returned to reprise their memorable roles of Miranda Priestly, Andy Sachs, Emily Charlston, and Nigel Kipling.

As reported by Variety, in just two weekends, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has generated over $433 million worldwide. Produced by Disney, the sequel added $75 million and $43 million in the US to its total earnings. In North America, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has already accumulated $144 million and continues to grow. What has surprised industry analysts is its global appeal, having earned an impressive $288 million from 51 territories.
The international earnings include $28 million from the UK; $28 million from Italy, where part of the film was filmed; $22 million from Brazil; and $20 million from Mexico. The 2006 film, which was also penned by Aline Brosh McKenna, concluded its run with $326 million. Analysts anticipate that the sequel will finish with $650 to $750 million as it leaves theaters later this year. The film’s studio, Disney, has become the first Hollywood studio in 2026 to surpass $2 billion in global ticket sales.

The three lead actresses of the sequel are set to receive a substantial bonus due to the film’s stronger-than-expected box office performance. Streep, Hathaway, and Blunt each earned $12.5 million as part of a “favoured nations” agreement. However, that figure could rise to $20 million after bonuses once the film concludes its theatrical run. Streep reportedly emphasized during negotiations that she and her co-stars Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway would receive equal pay.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 had a production budget of $100 million, which is believed to have primarily gone towards cast salaries. The cast and crew took two decades to reunite for a sequel, as they wanted to ensure the story was right. Director Frankel and writer Brosh McKenna were uncertain if Oscar winner Streep would return, as the seasoned actress has only agreed to a few sequels.
