Music legend Keith Richards once shocked the world after claiming he mixed his late father’s ashes with cocaine and snorted them—a statement his spokesperson later clarified was merely a joke.

Wait… what?! You might think you’ve heard the wildest celebrity confession ever but today, we give you something that will make your eyeballs go wide. We found an old interview where a music legend claimed he mixed his late father’s ashes with cocaine and snorted them. Yes, you read that right.

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards made the shocking claim during an interview with NME magazine many years ago. Speaking about the strangest thing he had ever snorted, he replied, “My father. I snorted my father.”

He went on to say that after his father was cremated, he mixed a small amount of the ashes with cocaine because he “couldn’t resist.” According to Richards, his father “wouldn’t have cared,” adding that “it went down pretty well” and that he was “still alive.”

His father, Bert Richards, died at the age of 84 in 2002. He had worked as a factory labourer and had also served during World War II.

However, after the interview went crazy viral, Richards’ spokesperson denied his comments saying that it was nothing more than an off-the-cuff joke and said it never actually happened. He described it as something that should be “filed under April Fool’s.”

That wasn’t the only unbelievable story Richards shared. He recalled another terrifying incident in Switzerland, where he claimed someone had mixed strychnine into his drugs. Richards said he slipped into a coma-like state but could still hear everything happening around him. He remembered people saying, “He’s dead!” while he was thinking to himself, “I’m not dead!”

Strychnine is a highly poisonous chemical found naturally in the seeds of the Strychnos nux-vomica tree. It has been used as a pesticide to kill rodents and birds. Even a small amount can be extremely dangerous, causing severe muscle spasms, painful convulsions and, in serious cases, death due to breathing failure.
