Disney was the first to cross $3 billion worldwide in 2026 among all the Hollywood majors at the end of June, but Universal is the first studio YTD to cross $4 billion.

This comes as Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, three weekends in, approaches $1 billion, the running global cume now at $911M. Odyssey‘s third global weekend of $136.2M was powered by $68M from Imax screens, which for the large format exhibitor is their second highest grossing weekend ever. Odyssey had all Imax screens in a Spider-Man: Brand New Day $927M global grossing weekend except in China, Japan and Korea where the Nolan pic hasn’t launched yet.

This is the first time since 2023 that Universal has reached the $4 billion milestone and the fifth time it has crossed this mark in the studio’s history. Last year, Warner Bros was the first to cross $4 billion even though Disney won out the year.

Broken out, Uni counts $1.53 billion domestically and $2.48 billion internationally.

Among the key achievements for Universal so far:

—Only three films have crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide to date in 2026, with Universal releases representing two of them (The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael).

—Universal has led the global weekend box office for 10 weekends in 2026

—Universal and Focus account for five of the Top 10 highest-grossing films worldwide in 2026, including three of the Top Five (Michael at No. 2, The Super Mario Galaxy at No. 3, The Odyssey at No. 4, Obsession at No. 9 and Minions & Monsters at No. 10).

—Three of the Top Five highest-grossing films worldwide in 2026 are distributed internationally by Universal (The Odyssey, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael).

—For anyone who forgot, Obsession is officially Focus Features’ highest-grossing movie ever worldwide, as well as Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s highest-grossing film, with $475M.
