Waylon Jennings will receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of the Class of 2027, an honor his family has pursued for years to permanently cement the country music icon’s legacy along Hollywood Boulevard.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce unveiled the full Class of 2027 on July 23 at a news conference held at Funko Hollywood. Jennings is one of 32 honorees named this year across the categories of motion pictures, television, live theater and live performance, recording, radio, and sports entertainment, and he is the only recipient being recognized posthumously.

Shooter Jennings shared the news with fans on social media, thanking those who helped make the honor a reality: “Thanks to the amazing Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, to our great friend John Arakaki, and the persistence and follow-through of my wife Waylon, is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!” he wrote. “I could not be more proud to permanently honor him among the stars who have come before!!”

Walk of Fame Selection Committee Chairman Peter Roth spoke on behalf of the organization about the significance of this year’s class: “The Walk of Fame Selection Committee is proud to welcome the Class of 2027 to one of the most enduring symbols of achievement in entertainment. These 32 extraordinary individuals have each made a lasting impact on audiences around the world through their talent, creativity, and dedication to their craft. We are honored to recognize their remarkable contributions and look forward to celebrating them as they take their place in Hollywood history.”

Jennings, who died in 2002, built a catalog that continues to influence country artists today, and interest in his music has grown following the 2025 release of the archival album Songbird. A second archival collection, Diamonds, is due out later this year.

The recording category also includes Karol G, David Guetta, the Ramones, Grandmaster Flash, Marc Shaiman, Sia, the Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park, and Lil Wayne. Lenard “Charlamagne tha God” McKelvey rounds out the radio category, joining honorees from film, television, live theater, and sports entertainment in the 2027 class.

Ceremony dates for the new class have not yet been scheduled. Recipients typically have up to two years from their selection to hold their unveiling, meaning celebrations for the Class of 2027 are expected to stretch into 2028.
