Druski makes history as youngest host of 2026 BET Awards
The countdown to one of music’s biggest nights is finally over. The 2026 BET Awards are ready to celebrate another year of standout achievements across music, television, films and sports, with a star-packed ceremony lined up in Los Angeles. From blockbuster performances to major honours and a historic hosting milestone, fans have plenty to look forward to.
The awards will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 28, airing live from 8 pm ET/PT. Viewers can tune in on BET, with the ceremony also being simulcast across several Paramount-owned channels.
Comedian and internet sensation Druski is taking charge as this year’s host, making history as the youngest person ever to emcee the BET Awards. The 31-year-old breaks the record previously held by Kevin Hart, who became the youngest host when he fronted the ceremony in 2011.
Speaking about the opportunity, Druski said, “I grew up watching the BET Awards. To know the comedic legends that hosted before me set the bar so high, I’m just grateful to be a part of the history. But I’m still bringing my brand of comedy to the stage.”
Druski’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. His viral comedy sketches turned him into one of entertainment’s fastest-growing personalities, eventually leading to sold-out stand-up tours, collaborations with artists including Drake and Snoop Dogg, and appearances alongside celebrities such as Tom Brady and Timothée Chalamet.
Fans can also expect a performance-heavy evening featuring some of the biggest names in music. The main lineup includes Cardi B, Doechii, Doja Cat, Common, Don Toliver, Kehlani, Queen Latifah, Rick Ross, Tems, T.I., Nas, RAYE, Ari Lennox, Baby Keem and BJ the Chicago Kid.
The show will also feature performances by French Montana, Max B, Jill Scott, George Clinton, Rapsody, Durand Bernarr, Erica Campbell, Alexia Jayy, Le’Andria Johnson, Kenny Iko, KWN and Lizzo. Meanwhile, hip-hop trailblazer MC Lyte returns as the official announcer for the ceremony.
Those planning to stream the event won’t necessarily need a cable connection. Besides airing on BET, BET Her, MTV, MTV2, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, CMT, Nickelodeon, Logo, POP and TV Land, the ceremony will also be available on Paramount+. Fans can also watch through BET’s official website and app.
On the awards front, Cardi B heads into the night with six nominations, making her the most-nominated artist this year. Kendrick Lamar and Mariah the Scientist follow closely with five nominations each.
Several industry icons will also be honoured during the ceremony. Lauryn Hill will receive the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award, while Teyana Taylor is set to be presented with the Icon of the Year Award. Music executive Sylvia Rhone will be recognised with the Ultimate Icon Award.
Cardi B’s Am I the Drama? has been nominated for Album of the Year. According to the Houston Chronicle, the race for Song of the Year features some of the year’s biggest hits, including Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther”, Leon Thomas’ “Mutt”, Doechii’s “Denial Is a River” and Mariah the Scientist’s “Burning Blue.”
