On this edition of Desert Entertainment, Tod Macofsky highlights a special night of Hollywood history and music coming to Palm Springs.

“One Night in Hollywood” takes the stage March 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre, celebrating decades of Academy Award-winning songs from film.

The show is created by legendary celebrity photographer Michael Childers and hosted by film expert Dave Karger, who will narrate the evening. Together, they’ll guide audiences through a chronological journey of the Best Original Song category at the Academy Awards — from early classics of the late 1920s to modern favorites like “Shallow.”

The performance features an impressive lineup of Broadway and Hollywood talent, including David Burnham, Julie Garnier, Lizzie Soso, Maximo Mancuso, James Snyder and Amanda McBroom. The evening promises powerful performances paired with behind-the-scenes stories from Childers’ decades-long career photographing some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

Childers shared how his journey began at UCLA film school, taking headshots of young actors who would later become major names. That path led him to photograph icons like Natalie Wood and many others, cementing his place in Hollywood history.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Plaza Theatre Foundation, helping support plans for a museum highlighting Palm Springs’ deep ties to the entertainment industry.
