‘Heads of State’, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas alongside John Cena and Idris Elba, has earned a nomination for Outstanding Television Movie at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards.The nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards were announced on Wednesday at the Television Academy in Los Angeles by recent Emmy winners Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller. ‘Heads of State’, the action comedy, will compete in the Outstanding Television Movie category against ‘Miss You, Love You’, ‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’, ‘People We Meet on Vacation’ and ‘Jack Ryan: Ghost War’.

The nomination marks another milestone in Priyanka Chopra’s international career. With ‘Heads of State’ securing an Emmy nod, the actor’s Hollywood filmography now boasts of projects recognised at some of the entertainment industry’s biggest awards, including the Oscars, BAFTA Awards, SAG Awards and Critics’ Choice Awards.

Among this year’s nominees, ‘The Pitt’ emerged as the most-nominated drama with 25 nominations, while ‘Hacks’ led the comedy categories with 24 nominations, setting a new record for the most nominations received by a comedy series in a single year.HBO Max topped all networks and streaming platforms with 122 overall nominations and had three series nominated in both the Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Comedy Series categories.The nominations also featured several notable names across television and entertainment. Rob Reiner received a posthumous nomination for his guest role in ‘The Bear’, while Bad Bunny earned nine nominations for his Super Bowl halftime show special.Newlywed Taylor Swift also picked up five nominations for The Eras Tour – The Final Show, including a nomination in her capacity as a producer. Swift previously won an Emmy in 2015 for Outstanding Interactive Program and is also a 14-time Grammy Award winner.
Where and when to watch Primetime Emmy Awards
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on September 14 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles and will air on NBC. The ceremony will be hosted by Mariska Hargitay, best known for her long-running role in ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’.
